About me

November 15th, 2010

I am Hugo O’Doherty, a writer and journalist.

My first articles were published in the college newspapers of Trinity College Dublin, from where I graduated in 2009. I spent the summer of that year working as a reporter for The Ghanaian Times in Accra, Ghana, an experience that gave me very fond memories and professional experience. Africa, and Ghana in particular, is a major interest of mine.

After graduating from a Master’s in International Journalism at the Dublin Institute of Technology in early 2011, I moved to Montreal to further my personal and professional life, and I now feel comfortable in saying that I am a French speaker. Before that I helped launch a features magazine called SCOPE with five other young journalists in Dublin. I have also lived in New York City.

I have been published in numerous newspapers, including The Irish Times and The Ghanaian Times. More recently I wrote the programme notes for two Celtic Thunder tours across North America. In March, 2013 I was hired as editor for Moving2Canada, an online resource that helps immigrants move to Canada. Moving2Canada is also a registered recruitment agency and has thousands of people in its international network. In August, 2014, I was hired by CanadaVisa/Campbell Cohen Law Firm as content manager.

Please see the Portfolio page for a small selection of my work.
